“This is a fantastic and well deserved victory” commented Basil McCrea MLA upon hearing the news. “Despite the conflicts earlier this week, this award proves just how much this culture-rich city has to offer.

“I believe that this will be a unifying experience for Northern Ireland as a whole, as the strong presence of two very different and unique cultures co-existing in Londonderry in winning this award, has no doubt established the importance of acknowledging and respecting each.

“Londonderry is moving to an exciting position, and it’s a place where both communities’ cultures have been included in the receipt of this award. I want to congratulate all of the representatives of city in their hard work and efforts; it is truly a well-earned award. ”

Teachers from across Europe visit Stormont

A delegation of teachers from across Europe paid a visit to Stormont. Teachers from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Holland and the UK brought their experience to Northern Ireland.

Given the debate in Stormont about Education this was a useful chance to exchange views.

Not surprisingly every thought their system was best.
