Basil McCrea welcomes PSNI Mobile Data Project
Over the next 12 months the Police Service will be providing front line response and road policing officers with over 4,000 Handheld Mobile Data Terminals. The drive is to ensure that officers are spending more time out of stations allowing more personal, professional and protective policing to take place. This month Lisburn Police station is one of the first to receive theirs as the terminal distribution rolls out across Northern Ireland. Read more
Portable Toilet currently only solution to vandals
At the beginning of this month, a portable toilet was installed adjacent to the bus-stop opposite the High School, as the public toilets within the park have been vandalised simply too many times.
Banbridge District Council have found that it has become too costly to continually clear up the mess left by youths time and time again, and instead have opted to make the Dromore Park toilets only available for use by disabled persons, or authorised groups such as primary, pre-school or playgroup organisers and teachers. Regrettably this list of authorised groups or persons does not include elderly persons in the park, or parents with the young children who will both be forced to use the portable toilet outside the park. UKYP has 10th annual sitting in Belfast
Today the staff of the Stormont Assembly welcomed the United Kingdom Youth Parliament in their visit to Northern Ireland’s parliament buildings during the third day of their 10th Annual sitting. The group got to meet MLAs Basil McCrea of the UUP, Colin McDevitt of the SDLP, Anna Lo of the Alliance Party, and also Francis Molloy the Deputy Speaker for the assembly. All of whom answered eager questions from England, Scotland and Wales based Youth Members of Parliament (YMPs) regarding the Northern Ireland judicial system. Read more
Basil McCrea supports National Citizen Scheme launch
Today Lagan Valley MLA Basil McCrea spoke regarding the pending announcement from Prime Minister David Cameron that 10,000 school leavers will be able to take part in a summer volunteering program beginning next year. Basil McCrea MLA commends City of Culture 2013
Short listed alongside stiff competitors Birmingham, Sheffield and Norwich, last night Londonderry took the mantle of UK’s inaugural city of culture. The city centre roared to life with celebration when it was announced Londonderry was to be the 2013 UK city of culture, showing to the world how much it has to offer. Read more
